GENERAL AGREEMENT: Barks & Wildlife Retreat ("B&W") agrees to provide boarding, daycare, grooming, and/or training services for your pet(s) as indicated for each visit. Accepted pets include, but are not limited to: dogs, cats, lizards, rabbits, pigs, turtles, and other common household or exotic animals. B&W reserves the right to exercise its best judgment in all circumstances regarding how to best provide services and will take reasonable precautions and care to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every pet.
PET HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: For the welfare of all pets in our facility, all pets at B&W must meet and abide by the following requirements:
Age: All pets must be at least 10 weeks of age and up to date on required immunizations before admittance.
Vaccinations (Dogs & Cats): Pets must be current on Rabies, DHLPP (Dogs), FVRCP (Cats), and Bordetella (Dogs). B&W recommends that vaccines be administered at least one week prior to drop-off for full efficacy.
Reptiles, Rodents, and Exotics: Must be parasite-free and in good health. Owners must provide species-appropriate housing and care instructions.
Fleas & Ticks: Pets found with external parasites will require immediate removal from the facility. Treatment may be offered at the owner's expense.
Health Conditions: Pets exhibiting illness, injury, or severe anxiety at check-in will not be accepted. Annual exams, fecal tests, and parasite preventatives are strongly recommended.
Behavior: A behavior assessment will be conducted upon arrival. Pets showing aggression toward humans will not be accepted. Pet-aggressive animals may be accommodated with separate, private play sessions.
PAYMENT & FEES: You agree to pay B&W under the following conditions.
Payment Due: Full payment for services is due upon pick-up.
Deposits: A 50% deposit is required for any reservation of five nights or longer. Deposits are non-refundable if cancellations are made within 48 hours of check-in.
Prepayment for Peak Times: During holidays or peak boarding periods, full prepayment may be required. No-shows will result in forfeiture of payment.
Hours and Service Fees: If for any reason a customer needs services outside of normal business hours Client agrees to pay an additional fee.
House Food Charge: House food will be provided at a daily fee if your pet’s food is depleted during their stay.
Reservation Commitment Policy: Due to our high demand, when you book a reservation, you are reserving a space that could otherwise be made available to another client. As such, you will be charged for the full duration of your reserved dates–even if you choose to pick up your pet early.
ABANDONMENT & PICK-UP POLICY:
Unclaimed Pets: Any pet not picked up within ten (10) days of their scheduled departure date may be deemed legally abandoned.
Abandonment Protocol: B&W will make good faith attempts to contact all persons listed on the client’s profile. After ten days, pets may be surrendered to animal control or an authorized rescue partner. The client remains liable for all costs incurred, including daily boarding, legal fees, and adoption fees.
PERSONAL ITEMS: While we encourage owners to bring familiar items such as toys or bedding, B&W cannot guarantee their return or condition. Items may become damaged during cleaning, play, or interaction. B&W assumes no responsibility for the loss, damage, or condition of any personal items.
INTERACTION & LIABILITY: While your pet is staying with us, they will be in proximity with, or exposed to other pets.
Contact with Other Animals: Your pet may be exposed to or come in proximity with other animals.
Injury Liability: You agree not to hold B&W liable for injury caused by another pet. If your pet injures another, you are responsible for any resulting medical or legal expenses.
Illness Risk: While B&W maintains strict hygiene and vaccination protocols, the risk of communicable diseases exists. Pets may experience temporary side effects such as diarrhea, respiratory issues, or stress-related behavior changes. You agree not to hold B&W liable for illness occurring during or after your pet’s stay.
Common After-Effects: It is not uncommon for pets to exhibit temporary changes due to the stress of being away from home or in a social environment. Common responses include:
Gastrointestinal Upset: Diarrhea or weight loss due to changes in routine, environment, or excitement.
Upper Respiratory Irritation: Similar to children in daycare, pets may be more susceptible to airborne illnesses in group settings despite vaccination.
Odor or Dirtiness: Pets who engage in active play throughout their stay may develop natural odors or a dirty coat. For this reason, we highly recommend a departure bath for all boarding stays to restore freshness before going home.
MEDICAL CARE & EMERGENCIES:
Authorization: B&W is authorized to provide first aid or seek veterinary care at its sole discretion when necessary for the health and safety of your pet.
Veterinary Fees: All costs for care, including emergency services and transport, are the owner’s responsibility, regardless of whether prior contact is made.
Emergency Transport: While B&W may assist, it is not obligated to provide emergency transport.
LIABILITY WAIVER: You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Barks & Wildlife Retreat, its employees, officers, and agents, from all liability, claims, damages, and costs arising from your pet’s stay, including but not limited to injury, illness, death, theft, or loss, unless due to proven gross negligence.
